Male Menopause – What You Didn’t Know and 3 Ways to Fight it.

Singing the Blues – Why is depression increasing in men?

Depression impacts men differerently than it does women.  Depression in men has been increasing because of the economy being shaky; men are losing jobs or concerned about losing their job.  It gets to the core of what a man feels about himself as a man, he expects himself to be able to provide for his family.  When that happens there is a feeling of frustration, anger,  and helplessness which can lead to male depression.

Men express depression differently – Men act out depression, women act in.  Men get more angry and irritable, and it often comes out on other people.  It is also one reason that men don’t get the help they need – it is a lot more difficult to give help to someone that is angry and irritable.

Male Menopause – The Cause

Yes, it’s true.. women are not alone!  Men have a change of life that is every bit as difficult and stressful as what a woman goes through.  It is driven by hormonal changes through the ages of 40-55.  Hormone levels begin to drop and, unfortunately for their wives, irritability begins to rise and feelings of frustration begin to increase.  The man becomes more out of sorts and doesn’t know why.  The good news is that it doesn’t have to be permanent, you can get help for this.

Losing Love: How to answer ‘I love you, but i’m not in love with you anymore’

What? For a woman to hear that, it is devastating.  First, don’t freak out and don’t let it destroy you.  You can understand the problem and solve it.  It almost always means they have lost love of their life, rather than their love for you.  They look around and seek change and the wife is the one that gets the blame.  Often men going through their change of life tend to blame their partner, but it can be repaired.

Rather than resist, get him to talk about it.  Find out what he is missing or what he has lost.  Be sure that you are feeling good  about yourself, almost all couples are able to find their way back to each other, you just need to be aware of what is happening.

This does not excuse abusive behavior, there is a clear difference between irritability and rage.

Where do you go for help?
